Every startup has a story. This is mine — the real one. No polished version, no PR spin. Just what actually happened, and why I have not stopped since.
It Started With a Different Idea
My younger brother, Muhammad Hammad Majid, had come from Dubai to Pakistan for holidays. We sat together discussing business ideas — and landed on starting an eCommerce store selling shirts and pants by sourcing stock from Faisalabad.
We agreed on the idea, but both of us had doubts. Fashion trends change too quickly. We had no experience. And deep inside, I felt this was not the right direction. We kept talking, but nothing clicked.
The Night Everything Changed
A few days later, I was riding my bike to the office on the Islamabad Expressway — around 9 PM. A water tanker was driving in front of me.
That simple moment changed everything.
I started thinking. Millions of people across Pakistan struggle every day just to arrange water for their homes and businesses. The entire system ran on phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and word of mouth. There was no app, no live tracking, no transparent pricing, no reliability.
We order food in minutes. We book cabs in seconds. But for something as basic as water — people were still at the mercy of a phone call and a prayer.

Building From Zero
I immediately started researching the market, analysing the industry, and understanding what people actually go through. After detailed research, I began building the app myself.
When the app was around 20% complete, I showed it to my brother. He looked at it and said:
"This plan is strong. There is a huge problem in water supply."
That gave me the confidence to keep going.
10–15 Hours a Day, Every Day
From that point onward, I dedicated 10–15 hours every single day to coding, planning, designing, and improving the system. My goal was not just to create another app — it was to build an outstanding and reliable platform that could genuinely solve a major problem in Pakistan.
One night I will never forget — I had been chasing a critical API bug for hours. The entire dispatch system was broken. No orders could go through. I fixed it somewhere deep in the night. I took a photo. I was exhausted, but I gave a thumbs up — because sometimes that is all you can do.
Experience That Made a Difference
My previous experience helped me a lot during this journey. I had worked in an American call center and spent three years in the UK cab industry — including experience with Blacklane and Autocab systems. That background gave me a real understanding of how dispatch systems, transport operations, and customer-focused platforms work at a professional level.
Much of my planning happened at the VERT London office. Long hours sitting there, thinking through every detail of how TankerNow should work — the driver flow, the dispatch logic, the customer experience. That office is where the idea went from a thought to a real plan.
I applied everything I learned from UK and USA transport systems while building TankerNow. The bidding flow, the driver availability system, the live tracking — all of it was built with that operational experience in mind.
The Words That Kept Me Going
I discussed the idea with my uncle, Farooq Haider. After listening carefully to the plan, he told me:
"This is a million-dollar plan."
Those words motivated me to push even harder every single day.
One quote stayed in my mind throughout this entire journey:
"At least try your best — otherwise you will regret your whole life that you didn't even try."
And when the fear of failure crept in, my friend Saad from Saudi Arabia reminded me:
"If it fails, then maybe God has planned something better for you."
Those words removed my fear of failure completely.
The Problem Is Real — I've Seen It Up Close
I did not build TankerNow from behind a desk. I went to the areas where people struggle. I spoke to the drivers. I watched the chaos. Every part of this platform was shaped by what I saw on the ground.
This is not just an app. It is about creating convenience, transparency, trust, and reliability for millions of people who deserve better.
This Is Only the Beginning
Today, TankerNow is live in Rawalpindi. Real drivers. Real customers. Real deliveries. Every order placed is proof that the system works.
We are intentionally starting focused. The goal of this phase is not scale — it is perfection. We want every delivery to be fast, reliable, and trusted before we expand to the next city, and the next, and the next.
